LEGO October 2026: New Sets, Two GWPs, and a Loaded Sales Week

October is the single most loaded month on the LEGO calendar this year, and it is not close. A wave of new sets lands October 1st, two real gift-with-purchase promotions are stacked back to back, LEGO Insiders are rumored to be getting double points in the middle of the month, and Amazon, Target, and Walmart are all running major sales events in the same seven-day window. If you have been holding off on a purchase, this is the month to have a plan instead of just clicking “add to bag” on impulse.

Here is everything worth knowing, and how we would actually sequence it if we were spending our own money. Which we are.

What’s Actually New in October

We pulled every date directly off the LEGO.com product pages, because the wave is split across two different launch days, not one. LEGO Insiders get early access October 1-3 to three of the month’s biggest sets, ahead of their general release on October 4:

Christmas sets also start rolling out this month, including the Buddy the Elf, Mrs. Claus, and Santa’s Holiday Countdown seasonal builds. Yes, we know it is October. LEGO does not care, and honestly neither do we once the Winter Village sets show up.

The Two GWPs to Know About

Darth Vader’s Lightsaber (40897) is confirmed. Buy the Super Star Destroyer (75457) between October 1 and October 7 and LEGO throws in this 174-piece display model of Vader’s lightsaber for free. It is not a spending threshold, it is tied to that specific set, so this only matters if you were already buying the $799.99 Star Destroyer. We wrote up the resale math on this exact GWP in our full 75457 piece, because early copies of comparable promo lightsabers have sold for well over $100 on the secondary market.

Astro Bot (40899) is now official. LEGO unveiled it on September 26, and it has its own LEGO.com page listing it as a gift with purchase for adults 18+. It is a 276-piece posable model of the PlayStation mascot, with a cape, blue propulsion jets, swappable round and half-moon eyes, and a display stand, standing a bit over 8 inches tall.

What LEGO has not published yet is the fine print. The page currently says the gift is “not currently available,” with no purchase threshold and no dates. Jay’s Brick Blog expects it to be free with a spend of about $150 starting October 1, the same day the PlayStation set (72306) opens to Insiders. The earlier rumor that it would only come with the PlayStation set now looks unlikely, but a PlayStation order would clear a $150 bar on its own either way. Treat the threshold and dates as expected, not confirmed, until they show up at checkout.

One more worth a mention even though it is not technically an October promo: the Scary Haunted Tree (40900) GWP is live now through September 30 with any $100 order. If you are reading this before the month flips, that one expires before October even starts.

Double VIP Points: Rumored for October 13-19

LEGO has not officially confirmed this one, but the rumor making the rounds is a double Insiders points event running October 13 through 19, covering everything on LEGO.com, with a possible unannounced GWP attached to it. LEGO does not publish a fixed points calendar and tends to confirm these only a few days out through the VIP page and member emails, so we would not build a whole shopping plan around it yet. Worth knowing about, not worth waiting on if something you want is already in stock and discounted somewhere else.

Then the Big Three Sales Show Up, All in the Same Week

This is the part that makes October genuinely dangerous for a LEGO budget. Three separate retailers are running major sales events within days of each other, right after the new sets drop:

That means October 6-7 is the real window to compare prices across three retailers on whatever set you have been watching, LEGO or otherwise. None of these are LEGO-specific events, so what actually gets discounted is never guaranteed, but LEGO sets show up in all three every year at some level.

StudDad’s Take: How We’re Sequencing October

The lightsaber is tied to buying the Super Star Destroyer directly from LEGO between October 1 and 7, and discounts elsewhere will not get you the free gift. Astro Bot is expected to work off a spend threshold, so a PlayStation order would likely cover it, but wait for LEGO to publish the terms before you plan around it. Either way, this is the one case where buying from LEGO on day one is the correct move, because the bonus set is worth chasing on its own.

For everything else, we are not buying anything new-release the moment it drops. We are watching October 6-7 across Amazon, Target, and Walmart, because that is three shots at a discount in a 48-hour window instead of one. If the rumored double points event actually happens October 13-19, that is a good moment to buy something you were already planning to get directly from LEGO.com, since points stack on top of whatever the set already costs. But we are not holding a want-list hostage waiting on an unconfirmed rumor. If it is a good price before then, take it.

And if you are budgeting past October, note that November is already lining up behind it. LEGO Ideas 21375 Godzilla is rumored for Black Friday, November 27, at around 5,360 pieces, so a lot of the spending this month is competing with a very big set next month.
